The Rob Ford Show Continues In What Feels Like Slow Motion

The Rob Ford Show continued this afternoon with a live performance in front of the Toronto City Council, where the mayor-turned-late-night-punchline appeared for the first time since he admitted last week to smoking crack cocaine during what he dubbed one of his “drunken stupors.” As you’d expect, today’s action isn’t going particularly well for the mayor of the fourth-largest city in North America. Here’s how Ford handled a question about whether he’s bought illegal drugs in the past two years:

The council has made it overwhelmingly clear they want Ford to take a leave of absence and seek some help, but they don’t have any real power to make that happen if police don’t press charges. Ford, who denies that he has a drug and/or alcohol addiction, also told the council today that while he supports the police generally, on the advice of his attorney, he does not plan on cooperating with the investigation.
