Mom and Four Children Stabbed to Death in Brooklyn Apartment

A 25-year-old man turned a Brooklyn home into a scene of carnage late Saturday when he killed a 37-year-old woman and her four children, the youngest of whom was an 18-month-old boy, according to the New York Daily News. The victims “were cut and butchered with a kitchen knife,” according to a police officer, reports the Associated Press.

The suspect, 25-year-old Ming Don Chen, a cousin of the children’s father, has implicated himself in the stabbings. He had been staying at the Sunset Park home for about a week. The New York Post hears from a police source that the 25-year-old confessed that he killed the family because he was jealous of their lifestyle. “The family had too much. Their income (and) lifestyle was better than his,” the source reportedly said.

The 18-month-old boy and two girls, aged 9 and 6, were already dead when paramedics arrived a little after 11 p.m. on Saturday. The mom and her 8-year-old son were rushed to a hospital but doctors were unable to save them, according to the Daily News. Neighbors who spoke with the Post said they were surprised at how calm the suspect was while he was being questions. “He was completely composed and answering their questions—even as they brought out two black bags with the kids in them,” the neighbor said.
