Whether you like to play video games, or prefer board games, the first day sales of Grand Theft Auto V are pretty astonishing. The latest installment in the franchise was released worldwide on Tuesday, raking in $800 million. In 24 hours.

The game is expected to blow past the $1 billion threshold, making its sales figures the envy of other like-minded industries, namely Hollywood. The Los Angeles Times points out that $1 billion milestone would match the game up with Hollywood’s top box office performers–for the year.

Rockstar Games reportedly spent $115 million developing Grand Theft Auto V and $150 million on marketing, according to Bloomberg Businessweek.
