Four people were killed and several more injured in Texas last night when a grenade-wielding man went on a deadly shooting rampage, according to local officials. Details are still a little sparse but authorities say that 44-year-old Erbie Bowser, the suspected gunman who is now in custody, traveled to two different homes in the Dallas area — killing and wounding people at both locations. At the second location, Bowser threw a hand grenade into the living room before shooting and killing two women and wounding two children.

Little is known about Bowser’s alleged motivation, although authorities are speculating that Bowser may have been trying to kill an ex-girlfriend, who is believed to be among the victims, according to the the Dallas Morning News.

It remains unclear why he would choose to go to two different houses, or why he would stick around after the attack at the second house. Although, according to the Morning News, the latter may have been part of his escape plan: “When DeSoto officers arrived, Bowser pretended to be among the victims. But officers quickly determined he was their suspect and took him into custody.”
