Ending a week of suspense, Aaron Hernandez was arrested this morning at his home and is scheduled to be arraigned in Attleboro District Court sometime today on undisclosed charges. The New England Patriots announced less than two hours later they were cutting the one-time star tight end from the team.

“Today at approximately 8:47 a.m. Aaron Hernandez was arrested by Massachusetts State Police and North Attleboro Police,’’ Bristol District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter’s office said in a a statement. “He will be arraigned at Attleboro District Court. Following his arraignment, Bristol District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter will meet with the press and issue a statement.’’ …

Authorities released no further details on the case, which has drawn dozens of media members to stake out Hernandez’s home for days. Hernandez has been under investigation in connection with the murder of his acquaintance, Odin L. Lloyd, 27, whose body was found June 17 at an industrial park near Hernandez’s home.

For those of you who have only kept one eye on this unfolding story, the investigation has to do with one of Hernandez’s friends who was found dead last week—and not separate allegations from another one of the Pro Bowler’s former friends who claims that Hernandez shot him in the face back in February.
