Delaware lawmakers on Tuesday signed off on a bill that will make the state the 11th in the nation to allow gays and lesbians to walk down the aisle. The News Journal:
The gay marriage bill has passed the Senate this afternoon with a vote of 12-9. Gov. Jack Markell has said he would sign the bill. The bill passed the House on a close vote April 23. The bill passed 23-18, receiving two more votes than were required for passage.
Once it becomes official, the First State will join 10 others that have already legalized same sex marriage: Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Iowa, Maryland, New York, and Washington state, along with the District of Columbia.
