Watch Footage of the Reality TV Show Featuring Pistorius’ Dead Girlfriend

As Oscar Pistorius’ family strongly denied claims that the celebrated athlete had purposefully murdered Reeva Steenkamp, the South African Broadcasting Corp. aired the reality show featuring the victim of the Valentine’s Day shooting that made news around the world. Steenkamp’s family said the broadcaster had not asked their permission to air Tropika Island of Treasure, but they were not opposed to the move because Reeva was proud of her work there and would have wanted people to watch, reports the Associated Press.

“Her last words to us personally was that she wants us to watch it,” Sharon Steenkamp, Reeva’s cousin, said.

The show aired a tribute video for the 29-year-old South African model, featuring Steenkamp in Jamaica that includes a reflection of her time on the show that now suddenly takes on a deeper meaning: “The way you go out and make your exit is so important. You either made an impact in a positive or in a negative way,” she says. Steenkamp then adds: “I’m going to miss you all so much.”
