As we explained yesterday, the rocker/guns-rights advocate/Obama critic was invited by Republican Rep. Steve Stockman of Texas. Nugent got himself in some hot water last year when he declared during a campaign stop for then-GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney: “If Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”
Those comments caught the attention of the Secret Service, but they weren’t the first time that Nugent had ranted against Obama. In 2007, he offered this gem: “Obama, he’s a piece of shit. I told him to suck on my machine gun.”
For his part, Stockman said that his plus-one would serve as a “very articulate spokesman” and provide “balance” to the president’s message.
