Those of you already tired of all things royal will probably want to stay away from cable news (and most of the Internet) in July. That’s the month that Kate Middleton is expected to give birth to her and Prince William’s first child, the royal couple announced this morning.
The Clarence House kept the announcement short and sweet:
Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in July. The Duchess’s condition continues to improve since her stay in hospital last month.
A close reading of that two-sentence statement would suggest that those of us speculating that the royal couple may have been expecting twins were wrong. If we are doing the math right, the announcement also suggests that Kate was fewer than 12 weeks pregnant when the palace first made the news of her pregnancy official in early December.
