Aurora, Colorado is once again reeling from gun violence Saturday after three people were discovered dead inside a home following a standoff with police. After hours of negotiation attempts, the police shot and killed the gunman at around 9 a.m. when he went to a second-floor window of the home and fired at the police. The three people inside the home appeared to have been killed earlier, according to KUSA.
At around 3 a.m., a woman managed to escape by jumping out of the home’s upstairs window and called the police. It’s possible the three people had already been killed at that point because the woman reportedly told police officers there were three “lifeless bodies” in the home, reports the Denver Post. The identities of the victims and their relationship with each other remain unclear but a police spokeswoman says they could all be related.
The Denver suburb was thrust into the national spotlight less than six months ago, when a gunman opened fire at a packed movie theater, killing 12 people and injuring 58 others on July 20.
