As promised, British officials made public their post-mortem report this morning on the death of Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who fell for a now-infamous radio prank and patched through a pair of Australian DJs to Kate Middleton’s bedside last week.
The coroner’s office said that the 46-year-old mother of two was found hanging by a scarf from a wardrobe in her nurses’ quarters by a colleague and member of security staff. Investigators are continuing to piece together exactly what happened in her final hours with the help of her email and phone records, but all signs continue to point toward a suicide. Authorities also said that she was found with injuries to her wrists, and that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
Perhaps the most noteworthy new disclosure was the fact that Saldanha wrote three notes before her death, two that were found at the scene and a third that was found in her belongings elsewhere. Details of exactly what she said in those letters, however, have not been released publicly or leaked to the press through other channels.
