Here’s What Obama Looked Like When Romney Called To Concede on Election Night

The White House released a photo (which you can see below) today showing President Obama accepting Mitt Romney’s concession call on election night. The pic was snapped in the presidential suite at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park in Chicago.

It’s not the most captivating photo (but then again, did you really expect the administration to release one capturing the president in mid-fist pump?), nor will it likely prove nearly as popular as the one Team Obama tweeted out on election night showing the president and the first lady in an embrace at a campaign stop from August. Still, it’s one for the history books nonetheless, and not just because four years from now the act of concession will probably take place over Twitter like everything else.

It’s also another reminder of how carefully the president’s team controls his image. This photo was taken for the White House by Obama’s official photographer Pete Souza. The one sent out on election night (which quickly became the most tweeted and “liked” photo on the Internet) was snapped by someone on the campaign’s payroll.
