Obama Returns to the Campaign Trail For Fiscal Cliff Push

Campaign season never truly ends, even for a second-term president. The Washington Post:

Administration officials said Obama will hit the road this week for a campaign-style series of events with ordinary Americans, including a visit to a toy manufacturer in suburban Philadelphia on Friday. That trip and others will be aimed at increasing pressure on Congress to reach an agreement on heading off a series of automatic spending cuts and tax increases that are scheduled to begin in January.

The push comes as congressional Democrats and Republicans continue to negotiate about how to avoid the so-called “fiscal cliff.” Those talks have been progressing slowly but not exactly surely, with both sides continuing to maneuver to gain the political upper hand with more than a month to go before their deadline.
