Obama’s New Attack Ad, Starring Big Bird [Updated]

Embedded below. No word yet on exactly when and where it will run, but the Obama campaign tells the Washington Post that it will air on national broadcast and cable networks.

It’s noteworthy that the president and his allies are trying their best to capitalize on Romney’s PBS-cutting promise during Wednesday’s debate given that, by and large, the Republican was widely (and we mean widely) judged to have had the stronger performance on stage in Denver last week. That said, despite Obama’s lackluster showing, he largely managed to avoid providing any easy fodder for GOP attack ads.

UPDATE 11:36 a.m.: Sesame Street is asking Obama to pull the ad: “Sesame Workshop is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization and we do not endorse candidates or participate in political campaigns. We have approved no campaign ads, and as is our general practice, have requested that the ad be taken down.”
