Fox officially finished unveiling the new judges’ panel for the latest season of American Idol Sunday, when the network confirmed that rapper Nicki Minaj and country star Keith Urban would be joining Mariah Carey and veteran judge Randy Jackson for the new season, reports the Wrap. The three singers replace Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, who left the show at the end of last season. Of course, Ryan Seacrest is staying on as host.
Before the official announcement, there was widespread speculation Jackson, the last original judge from the show’s debut, might leave the panel. Although American Idol remains wildly popular, and ended the 2011-12 season as the leading entertainment show, it aired its least-watched finale and the young audience advertisers crave so much continues shrinking, notes the Associated Press.
