It looks like Democrats may trot out their own surprise Hollywood stars this week—although it’s probably safe to say that if that happens organizers will want to see a more detailed script than Clint Eastwood gave Republicans last week.
CNN, citing “a tentative schedule provided by a source,” says that Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Kerry Washington are slated to speak on Thursday, the same night that President Obama formally accepts his party’s nomination:
“Johansson, Portman and Washington are listed as following The Foo Fighters on the itinerary. Convention officials announced that the alternative rock band would perform last week. A source told CNN the hope is to have the three actresses appear on stage together.
“It’s unclear if the schedule has been finalized or is subject to change. When contacted by CNN, a DNC official said that no final details about the Thursday program would be divulged at this time.”
If the trio of Hollywood actresses does take the stage, they are sure to be compared and contrasted with Eastwood’s unscripted performance on Mitt Romney’s big night. Given the bad press that appearance earned the RNC, we’re guessing that’s something Democrats are banking on.
