China Daily ran a picture of a panda lying on a block of ice in Wuhan, where the temperature was a relatively refreshing 95.

In Russia, as temperatures surpassed 98 degrees, the government reported that 285 people had drowned last week while swimming. Officials blamed "the use of alcohol" as a contributing factor.
