The University of Colorado will be joining the Pacific-10 sports conference , as the league’s 11th member and—at about 1,300 miles inland—the school farthest from the Pacific Ocean. Previously, the most landlocked member of the conference was Washington State University, some 400 miles from the coast.
The Pac-10 is also reportedly courting “Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State,” according to the Sporting News. The additions would put the eastern edge of the conference closer to the Atlantic Ocean than the Pacific.
