LeBron James is a well-conditioned athlete. He possesses the endurance of a marathoner. He is as resilient as a quarry full of untouched granite. But it has been a long season. Could he be tired? Let’s see if he’s tired:

OK, LeBron is not tired. Guarding Kevin Durant has not taken a toll on him. “I’m averaging a triple-double in the finals,” he says, “I’m pretty good.”

Let’s put this to the ol’ Aristotle test:

  1. LeBron is not tired.
  2. LeBron is averaging a triple-double in the NBA Finals.
  3. Therefore, those who aren’t tired are averaging a triple-double in the NBA Finals.

I am very tired. I had some coffee earlier, which helped, but then I got tired again. I should probably have some more coffee, but I don’t feel like going to the kitchen to boil water because I am tired. (I have a French press.) I am not averaging a triple-double in the NBA Finals.

Yep, the syllogism checks out. LeBron James is not tired.
