Answer by Elizabeth Warren, U.S. senator for Massachusetts:

I have a commuting job. Monday afternoon through Thursday night, I’m in Washington—committee hearings, legislation, constituent meetings, policy expert briefings, and floor speeches about the issues we’re fighting for. Friday morning through Monday morning, I’m in Massachusetts, meeting with constituents, attending events, visiting schools and businesses and organizations all across the Commonwealth. My days are packed pretty tight.

The Republicans’ decision to block any nominee from President Obama for the Supreme Court vacancy has fired me up to put Democrats back in the majority in the Senate. I want to work with people who will do their jobs, so I do what I can to help Democratic Senate campaigns across the country, and that sometimes means spending weekends out on the campaign trail, rallying volunteers and talking about what’s at stake in the next election. There will probably be a lot more of that as we get closer to November.

I spend time with my three grandkids as much as I possibly can. (My job is to bake birthday cakes and take everyone shopping for shoes that light up.) My husband, Bruce, and I are avid hikers, so we get outside whenever we can.

No, I don’t take much time off right now, but I don’t have any complaints. I wake up every morning ready to get back into the fight. I love this work.
