In the immortal words of the Scissor Sisters, “A kiki is a party, for calming all your nerves/ We’re spilling tea, and dishing just desserts one may deserve.”

That’s the mission behind Outward’s foray into podcasting, Outward Kiki—well, that and providing you with the best, most entertaining LGBTQ news and analysis we can. Here’s what you can expect: The Outward crew will gather to discuss queer topics of interest, in addition to sharing “The Gayest Thing” we each encountered recently and assessing “Ask A Homo” questions submitted by listeners. Speaking of gayest things, this podcast will be that, but for your earbuds.

On this pilot episode, we ponder melancholy within the community following the recent marriage equality victory, and we make our pitches for which issue the movement should take up next. We also revisit June’s infamous banning of straight folks from gay bars in the first AAH video segment. Will her defense of queer exclusivity stand? You’ll have to listen to find out.

If you want to continue the kiki (or let us know what you thought about this episode), say hay at slateoutward@gmail.com, @slateoutward on Twitter, or on Facebook.

(A small correction to the audio: The telepathic, polysexual orgy scene in Sense8 takes place in Episode 6, not 5. We apologize for this supremely unarousing error.)

Want to hang out with Outward? If you’ll be in or near New York City on Monday, July 13, join June Thomas, J. Bryan Lowder, and Mark Joseph Stern—and special guests Ted Allen, of Queer Eye and Chopped fame, and marriage-equality campaigner extraordinaire Evan Wolfson—for a queer kiki at an Outward LIVE show, hosted by City Winery. Details and tickets can be found here.
