Uber Your Gay Wedding This Weekend in San Francisco

Drop a pin and get hitched!

Uber has already exploited my lazy bone in the realm of on-demand transportation, but with the announcement of Uber Weddings, the company is making a serious play for my heartstrings as well. If you live in San Francisco and have someone in your life you’d like to “make honest” this Pride weekend, all you need to do is gather a few basic documents, log onto the app, and drop a pin where you’d like to have your wedding—Uber will roll up with everything else you need.

The service, which will be available from noon to 6 pm on Saturday, June 28, includes a notary for the official business, a violinist for music, and candles, champagne, cake and flowers courtesy of various local purveyors. And Uber has even partnered with Hotel Tonight and Alaska Airlines to organize your honeymoon. And the best part? “In the spirit of the season, there’s no charge for the ceremony, and your honeymoon is covered, too.”

Uber notes that users should keep trying if they don’t get a roving wedding on the first try, because “demand may be high.” Weighing this free whirlwind setup against a bland city hall affair, I expect they’re right about that.
