As part of the build-up to the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in Sochi on Friday evening, the effort to keep the media focused on Russia’s heinous anti-LGBTQ law (and the vigilante violence it has facilitated) has intensified as well. While it’s important to take the terror going on in Russia seriously, as Outward’s Mark Joseph Stern did in this recent post, sometimes a little of Dolly Parton’s “laughter through tears” is in order—which is pretty much what these two viral Sochi-mocking videos provide.
