Union Street Guest House, a boutique hotel in New York’s Hudson River Valley, is experiencing a sudden rise to infamy after attempting to fine a wedding party $500 for each negative review posted online by its guests. The New York Post’s Page Six had the scoop on the inn’s less-than-hospitable policies this morning:

Please know that despite the fact that wedding couples love Hudson and our inn, your friends and families may not. … If you have booked the inn for a wedding or other type of event … and given us a deposit of any kind … there will be a $500 fine that will be deducted from your deposit for every negative review … placed on any internet site by anyone in your party.

The relevant section of the hotel’s terms and conditions appears to have since been removed. Union Street Guest House could not be reached for comment.

Unsurprisingly, the Yelp page for Union Street Guest House is now inundated with outraged, one-star reviews.
