How the Chicken McNuggets Are Made

I’ve never really understood the moral panic around “pink slime” and other processed meat products. Traditional sausage-making and other charcuterie techniques are also gross (indeed, there’s a saying about watching the sausage get made) and this is really just neither here nor there from an overall food system perspective.

But McDonald’s evidently feels somewhat stung by the criticism, so its Canadian branch made this video to convince you that Chicken McNuggets are a totally wholesome blend of machine-dismembered chicken white meat (with some skin mixed in):

The surprising thing I learned here is that McNuggets come in four different shapes! I don’t think I’d ever scrutinized it at that level. At any rate, my advice to you is that if you’re at McDonald’s get a burger. Go to Popeyes for your processed fast-food chicken needs.
