MAP: America’s Failed Banks

Here’s a cool map from the St Louis Fed—all the bank failures in America from 2007 to the present day.

What really stands out is the underrepresentation of the northeastern United States. That’s a mix of a housing price trajectory that was more restrained than what you saw in Florida and the southwest with the fact that the most failure-prone banks are the smaller ones, who can be brought down easily by a small number of bad loans.
