More bad news for Boeing as a 787 Dreamliner caught fire at Heathrow Airport today. It’s never good news for an airplane manufacturer when one of its new signature products starts burning, but this is a particular problem for Boeing since Dreamliners catching fire has been a problem before. But bad as it was to have the planes grounded for months the first time around, the fact that the problem is arising even though they already thought they’d solved it looks even worse.
The company’s stock went down about 4.7 percent today on the news—billions of dollars of notional value destroyed.
