TTIP Deserves More Hype, Not Less!

Jared Bernstein did a brief item urging people not to overhype the potential of a Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.

I have more of an editorial disagreement with this than an economic one, but my view in my latest column is that, if anything, TTIP is being massively underhyped. As with any big complicated economic arrangement, it’s very possible that nothing much will come of it. But potentially at least it could be a huge deal with a much larger impact for good and for ill than NAFTA and other trade pacts. There’s enormous possibilities for efficiencies and gains here but also enormous possibilities for malfeasance. People should be paying more attention.
