Public Perception of Inequality

The income gap between the rich and the rest has been growing steadily for some time, and according to a new Pew survey 65 percent of the public is even aware of this fact.

But I do want to call out for special recognition the 9 percent of correspondents who admitted they didn’t know. That struck me as an unusually high don’t know quantity for an opinion poll, even though obviously it’s quite common for people to not really be up to speed on this kind of policy issue.

The poll’s other main findings seem to be that people who consider themselves upper class are happier and healthier than everyone else.
