We know that back in 2006 Mitt Romney got it on density and affordable housing and that he has a secret past as a smart growth advocate, but now Dave Weigel brings us Romney’s Spotify playlist including the Kingston Trio’s “M.T.A.” a classic song about the need for more generous mass transit funding:
Of course the framing here is nominally anti-taxes, but realistically the alternative to fare hikes is higher taxes and more subsidies out of general revenue. If Romney wants to update his sound and adopt the current name of the Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority he should check out the Dropkick Murphys’ “Skinhead on the M.B.T.A.”
