As I’ve been saying, in some ways the future of the existing iPad is more interesting than the details of the hardware upgrades featured in the new model. And the answer is out—the iPad 2 will remain on sale in a 16 GB format. It’ll cost $399 for Wi-Fi only (compared to $499 for the new iPad) or $529 (compared to $629) for one with 3G capabilities.
This is not interesting from a technological perspective, but as a matter of business strategy I think it’s a very important move putting a lot of pressure on the Kindle Fire.
