The progressive media watchdog group Media Matters has put together a great video compilation from 2008 of Fox News explaining that it's not reasonable to blame the president for high gas prices:

It's really an excellent series of explanations. And the point Media Matters is correctly making is that Republicans efforts to blame Barack Obama for today's situation are nonsense. Of course by the same token, many Democrats were talking nonsense back in 2008 and few Democratic-aligned groups were hitting them for it at the time.
