Here's a chart of manufacturing jobs as a share of all jobs in the United States. I don't think tweaking the corporate income tax code to penalize companies for "shipping jobs overseas" is going to turn this around. Nor is it the case that back in The Good Old Days most people had manufacturing jobs, or that manufacturing was a growing share of the economy.
