There have been a lot of pranks and disappointing mistakes on Google Maps lately. There were some gems in the past, like Pac-Man and Google Maps Westeros, but sometimes it’s hard to remember the good times. Luckily, sheep exist.
Google Sheep View is a collection of screenshots from Google Street View footage taken around the world. Sheep grazing in the Netherlands, sheep grazing in England, sheep grazing in Bulgaria. You get the idea.
BUT YOU DON’T REALLY until you go on the site and scroll through photo after photo of serene, sometimes hilarious sheep. There’s even an outtakes section, which is just a delight.
Photographers Ding Ren and Mike Karabinos write that they started the site this year “because we enjoy the ‘sheep view’ when riding trains in the Netherlands.” They even dedicated the project to their favorite sheep breed, zwart bles.
This is the part where I make a “black sheep of the family” joke, but we’ll just skip that so you get to the Sheep View link sooner.
