Robots can already manage warehouses, perform search and rescue, and even run faster than you, but can we expect them to be playing soccer before adoring crowds at the 2070 World Cup?
Join Future Tense in Washington, D.C., at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, for a conversation about robots and sports with a live demonstration of GRASP Lab’s Team DARwIn (winners of the 2013 RoboCup), with Daniel D. Lee, a professor at the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering, University of Pennsylvania and director of the GRASP (General Robotics Automation, Sensing, Perception) Lab. While you enjoy drinks and snacks, Lee and Josh Levin, executive editor of Slate and host of “Hang Up and Listen,” Slate’s weekly sports podcast, will discuss the future of robots and sports.
