Bill Gates is committed to fighting world poverty and resource inequality. He’s a pretty serious guy. That showed during his Reddit Ask Me Anything yesterday, when he talked about his interest in education and his desire to support teachers to help them improve. He talked about building a better condom toward the goal of reducing HIV transmission. He talked about the disappointment of backing initiatives like school lunch programs that don’t get funded by the government. It was legit stuff.
But he has a sense of humor, too. When Redditors asked him who would play him in a biopic of his life and someone suggested Samuel L. Jackson, he noted that “Melinda would probably watch that version.” And then as a farewell he posted a video in which he and the Reddit Alien play chess together, read together and generally gallivant about. Mark Zuckerberg may have been the United States’ biggest philanthropist in 2013, but Bill Gates is still rocking it.
