Watch Ford’s Delightful Self-Parking Car Find a Spot and Pull In

Errant parking is an underrated social menace, particularly in large cities. There is also the matter of everyone hating it. In the neat, very British video above, Ford demonstrates a prototype of Fully Assisted Parking Aid, its new initiative to remove humans from the process altogether. The system finds a suitable parking place and maneuvers into it flawlessly without a need for the driver to be inside the vehicle. Ford and other automakers have offered parking-assistance features for years on many vehicles, but the new autopilot demoed in the video looks like an enviable upgrade. Alas, the company declined to say when it might be available (though ExtremeTech speculates that it will be within a year).
