Twitter just got a little
more poetic—
and, perhaps, a lot
more obnoxious.
(Not that obnoxiousness
is anything new
to the micro-blogging platform.)
The timing was fortunate.
The tweeters in my timeline were too busy
cracking pope jokes
to set to work immediately
abusing the new feature.
But rest assured:
It will be abused.
I’ve already done my small part
to precipitate the backlash.
Other would-be Williamses and cummingses
have done
f
a
r
more.
Remember when Twitter was simple?
Increasingly, it is
not.
