BoingBoing’s Cory Doctorow on Big Data and the “Privacy Bargain” [VIDEO]

BoingBoing co-editor and all-around Internet superstar Cory Doctorow dropped in on the O’Reilly Strata Summit last week to discuss big data and the “privacy bargain”—the way we trade our personal information for services from Web companies. He says this bargain is “the ideology underpinning much of the commercial activity in the modern world, especially on the Internet.” In the 19-minute-long talk, Doctorow touches on Facebook, user agreements, Do Not Track, the cloud, and more. Take a coffee break and enjoy the video.
