Yesterday, we reported that Great Britain’s Greg Rutherford had qualified fourth in the men’s long jump. Today, the home favorite won the event with a jump of 27 feet 3 1/4 inches. The trend of long jumps getting shorter continued at the 2012 Games—Rutherford’s effort was the shortest gold-medal-winning leap in 40 years.

But who cares—the guy looks like Tintin. Congratulations to the young reporter and his dog Snowy.
