Seth Meyers Walks Us Through Donald Trump’s Week of Scandals, Calls Him “Deeply Unfit” for Office

In case you’re having trouble keeping up with the deluge of breaking news that seems to have become a daily occurrence during the Trump administration, Late Night’s Seth Meyers has a quick rundown of the past eight days for you. The highlights:

Got all that? After summing up the week, Meyers took a deep dive into the White House’s damage control strategy, comprised mainly of overwhelmed staffers who are hiding from the press (some in offices, some in the bushes). They’re so reluctant to talk to reporters that when current National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster encountered a huddle outside Sean Spicer’s office, McMaster said, “This is the last place in the world I wanted to be.” Meyers at least admired his honesty: “Sean Spicer only says that with his eyes.”

Meyers also noticed how a lot of the scandals coming out of the Trump White House are exactly the kind of disasters Trump warned on the campaign trail would occur if Hillary Clinton were elected president, especially when it comes to the leaking of classified information. “Of course, it turns out, the Russians didn’t need to hack Hillary’s email server. They were able to hack Trump’s mouth,” quipped Meyers. “The password is Tell us.”

After noting that Trump is “deeply unfit” for office, Meyers appealed upon Republicans to stand up to a president whose scandals this week are best summed up by his own words: “Like Watergate but worse.”
