First Trailer for Good Wife Spinoff The Good Fight Features Lots of Sexy Sex

The first trailer (SEX) for The Good Fight (SEX), CBS All Access’ forthcoming spinoff (SEX) of The Good Wife (SEX) has been released, and while it’s clear (SEX) that the streaming-only show will still feature plenty of intense courtroom action (SEX), this particular piece of advance promotion seems to be stressing a rather different angle: sex (SEX).

The fast-paced trailer, which crams 28 shots into 30 seconds, gives us only brief glimpses of the show, including returning characters Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski), Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo), and David Lee (Zach Grenier), as well as new hires Rose Leslie, who will play Diane’s goddaughter, and Delroy Lindo. But it’s certainly trying hard to leave the impression that the series, which is scheduled to debut on Feb. 19, will be a little steamier than its network progenitor. “You wait, you listen and watch,” Baranski’s voice-over promises. “Eventually, everyone reveals themself.” (That means they get naked.)

Despite the trailer’s ”Things Will Get Nasty” tagline, there is as yet no indication that CBS will take full advantage of its first incursion into an Federal Communications Commission–free zone. But The Good Fight seems to be selling itself as a slightly edgier cousin to the network’s broadcast fare, which tends toward the conservative both culturally and aesthetically. The Good Wife was CBS’ most prestigious show in terms of awards and critical attention, but its ratings never followed suit, and for All Access $5.99 a month, prestige isn’t good enough.
