Watch an Explosive New Trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Upcoming WWII Drama Dunkirk

Following his futuristic space opera Interstellar, Christopher Nolan is now going back in time with Dunkirk. His first fact-based historical drama, the film is set during World War II and captures the chaos of the forced evacution of Allied soldiers from the beaches of Dunkirk, France in 1940. The film stars, among others, Kenneth Branagh, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and newly-minted Oscar winner Mark Rylance.

We got a stunning first look over the summer, and the newest, longer trailer further showcases Nolan’s penchant for spectacle, filled with violent explosions and sweeping shots of the Dunkirk harbor. While the wartime setting is of a significantly different aesthetic than recent Nolan films—less sleek and stylish, but nonetheless sharply rendered—the director has brought back several Interstellar collaborators, including composer Hans Zimmer and cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, to help bring it to life.

Dunkirk hits theaters in July 2017.
