Bruno Mars’ hits have conquered the world, and now he has conquered James Corden’s passenger seat for a segment of Carpool Karaoke that will have you dancing in your own seat. Mars and the Late Late Show host performed some of Mars’ catchiest earworms, including, naturally, “Uptown Funk” and “Uptown Funk II”—sorry, “24K Magic”—as well as “Locked Out of Heaven,” “Grenade,” “If I Knew,” and “Perm.”
This being Bruno Mars, there were plenty of hats involved, and the pop star revealed that the reason he always wears them is that his hair is actually unmanageable. Corden put his hat affinity to the test by having him try on several—proving definitively that Mars looks good in anything you put on his head. The two also gabbed about Mars’ days as a young Elvis impersonator (!) and the not-so-sexy realities of undressing your spouse, as in “Versace on the Floor.” Corden had one significant quibble: “You ignored the Spanx in this song.”
