Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, and Pentatonix Sing the Ultimate “Jolene” Cover, so Everybody Else Can Go Home

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Despite the many, many, many covers of the song in existence, nobody sings “Jolene” quite like Dolly Parton can. Earlier this year, the singer teamed up with a cappella quintet Pentatonix for a sparkling rearrangement of the country classic. On Tuesday, they brought their version to The Voice for a live performance—and, naturally, they were joined by Voice judge (and Parton’s goddaughter!) Miley Cyrus.

This was hardly the first time Cyrus has taken a shot at “Jolene,” which has always been one of her go-to covers. (It’s not even the first time singing it as duet with her godmother.) But the combination of Parton and Cyrus’ vocals with Pentatonix’s harmonies puts this performance over the top. When it comes to covers of “Jolene,” the song’s own lyrics say it best: “I cannot compete with you.”
