Watch Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump Scrap His Campaign Promises on Saturday Night Live

After a one-week vacation, Alec Baldwin settled into his role in the bleak new world that is Donald Trump’s America: playing Donald Trump. And like the rest of us—and presumably the president-elect himself—Baldwin’s Trump is having a rough time of it. It turns out he went and promised a lot of crazy things, ranging from the racist, to the stupid, to the really, really racist and really, really stupid. Secret plan to defeat ISIS? Check. Wall on the Mexican border? Check! Muslim registry? Checkity check check!

Baldwin looks as thrilled at the prospect of continuing to play Trump as Kate McKinnon is at continuing to play Kellyanne Conway, which is to say not at all. That’s understandable, but it doesn’t make for great comedy. The good news is Beck Bennett’s Mike Pence impersonation—so cruelly cut short when the SNL vice presidential sketch was overshadowed by Donald Trump bragging about sexual assault—is pretty sharp. Get ready for four years of it!
