Could it really have been just three days ago that Sam Bee was urging us to elect the first female president? It feels like a lifetime has passed. On a special episode of Full Frontal in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s election, Bee returned to bemoan the country’s decision and to take to task the group responsible for “the democratic equivalent of installing an above-ground pool”: white people.
“The Caucasian nation showed up in droves to vote for Trump, so I don’t want to hear a goddamn word about black voter turnout,” said Bee. “How many times do we expect black people to build our country for us?” And for white Americans who didn’t vote for Trump and would rather not be lumped in with the “bad apples,” Bee wasn’t about to let them off the hook, arguing that if all 3.3 million Muslims in America apparently have to be held accountable for every radical terrorist, then white people better be ready to take responsibility for their peers, too.
Bee had a particularly fiery message for the 53 percent of white women who chose “a vial of weaponized testosterone” over the first female president. “Way to lean out,” she told them, before concluding with a call to action: “Let’s get off the floor and get busy. Especially you white women. We’ve got some karma to work off.”
