In a much-needed delightful bit of election counterprogamming, NBC has announced that comedian and actor Dave Chappelle will make his Saturday Night Live debut on Nov. 12. Chappelle will host the first postelection episode.

A Tribe Called Quest will be the episode’s musical guest, appearing just one day after the release of their first album in almost 20 years. The album, We Got It From Here … Thank You 4 Your Service, is the last to feature Phife Dawg, who died in March. The only regrettable thing about this news is that Chappelle didn’t get to host Saturday Night Live before Nov. 8; he surely would have made the show’s already-strong 2016 election coverage even funnier and more acidic. But in any event, this will certainly be a historic night for SNL.
