Samantha Bee’s first ever interview with President Obama took place on Halloween, and the two of them truly got into the spirit of the holiday. Bee set the tone by asking the president to tell her a scary story about what might happen if people don’t vote. “Donald Trump could be president,” he answered simply.
Spooky stuff, but Bee took it further by proposing what a Trump administration might look like. Corey Lewandowski on the Supreme Court? Louie Gohmert as speaker of the House? “I’m not sure I’m going to sleep tonight,” quipped Obama.
In the rest of the interview, the president also reflected on his legacy (which will now include a footnote about his presence on Full Frontal) and speculated about what the new “birtherism” will be when Hillary Clinton takes office. The whole sit-down was clearly a public service announcement aimed at young voters—but it was also very fun to watch.
