Neil Young and Paul McCartney co-headlined the second night of the Desert Trip Festival on Saturday night, and before long they were following the lead of the Rolling Stones by covering a few Beatles favorites.

The two rock pioneers gathered to belt out “Why Don’t We Do It in the Road?” and “A Day in the Life,” to the audible pleasure of those in attendance. They were clearly having a good time, too, eventually merging their take on “A Day in the Life” with a rousing tribute to John Lennon’s “Give Peace a Chance.” But “Why Don’t We Do It in the Road” was still the most history-making highlight, marking the first time that McCartney had ever played the song in full in concert.
